How To Dry Out A Flooded Home – Home Improvement

Have you had any flooding due to all this rain?  If so, you’ll need to dry out your home quickly because wet carpet and walls can be a breeding ground for mold and bacteria in as little as two days.  You should run dehumidifiers in your house to help bring down the humidity level and use large fans to circulate the air.  If you can carefully take up wet carpet, do so.  The air also needs to circulate underneath your floor so make sure you don’t have any insulation or plastic sheeting against it in either your crawl space or basement.  Drywall acts like a sponge, soaking up water and contaminants, so if your drywall is wet, it’s best to tear it out and replace it.  Fiberglass and blown-in insulation will probably need to be replaced.  Most of this work requires some skill and experience, so if the damage is bad, please give us a call at Blass Residential Services and we’ll return your home to normal as quickly as possible.
