Keep Your Air Conditioner Operating At Peak Efficiency – Home Maintenance

We’re halfway through August; is your air conditioner operating as efficiently as it did at the beginning of the summer?  If you haven’t  been maintaining it, probably not.  There are some simple things you can do to maintain operational efficiency.  First, replace the air filter every month.  Just pop off the front panel and slide the new filter in place of the old one.  It’s an easy and inexpensive project.  Also, the coils of your unit should be cleaned to remove all the dirt, leaves and bugs that have accumulated on them.  Before you do so, switch off the breaker for your air conditioner.  Then wet the coils with your garden hose.  Put on gloves and safety glasses and then spray a commercial air conditioner coil cleaner (available at most hardware/home improvement stores) onto the coils.  It’ll need a few minutes to work, so follow the directions on the package telling you how long to let it set.  Afterwards, rinse the coils with your hose again.  Have questions?  Call us here at Blass Residential Services.  We can do that!
