Ever Considered Getting A Lightning Rod?

This is Lightning Safety Awareness Week.  In light of all the strong storms we’ve had over the last couple months, you might have considered getting a lightning rod for your home.  But do you know how they work?  Contrary to popular belief, lightning rods do not attract lightning.  They simply provide a path of low resistance to the ground if the lightning strikes near your house.  A lightning rod is a metal rod about an inch thick that is attached to your roof.  A thick wire comes off the rod and attaches to a large metal grid that’s buried in the ground.  When lightning strikes, it will choose the best conductor to the ground – in this case, the lightning rod, instead of your roof.  Want further details?  Give us a call at Blass Residential Services and we’d be happy to discuss options with you.  We can do that!
