Control Your Allergies!

Is the roller coaster weather playing havoc with your allergies?  Controlling your outdoor environment can help control your allergies.  Here are a few tips:

-Do your yardwork later in the day since pollen levels are usually at their highest between 5am and 10am.

-Wear an air filtering mask, goggles and gloves while you mow.

-Shake off your clothes before you enter the house and leave your shoes at the door.

-Shower after doing yard work.

-Remember that your pets bring allergens inside too so wipe their paws when they come in.

-Make sure there is no standing water in your yard which could develop mold.

-Some of our most favorite plants can be a source of great discomfort, including amaranths, juniper, elderberry, sycamore, elm, oak and birch trees.

-Plants that won’t aggravate allergies include poppies, azaleas, begonias, tulips, iris, yucca, hibiscus, boxwood, verbena shrubs, pine, fir and palm trees.

-Try a crawl space vent fan to help keep humidity low in your house.
